Driving Change
Driving change is part of ADAS community service and is an Impaired Driving program, specifically for those with 2 or more Excess Breath Alcohol charges or convictions

What we do

 

Driving Change is an impaired (drink or drug) driving programme for those with one drink driving conviction/charge at a high range (over 1000 breath or 200 blood) or two or more impaired driving convictions/charges. Our programme runs for 11 consecutive weeks from 5.30pm-7.30pm on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night. We have cycles based in Christchurch City Centre, Burnside and Rangiora.

 

Driving Change covers the following topics; Introduction to the group, NZ laws and how we compare to the rest of the world, education and impact of alcohol and other drugs on both the brain and body, how substances impact driving ability, the tripart brain theory, personal values, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, justifications, individualised action plan, motivational interviewing, cycle of change, storyboards examples of impaired driving, high risk situations and strategies, Te Whare Tapa Wha, impact of impaired driving on both the client and others and completion session.
